Planed Surfaces and Rounded Edges are done to a full 1/2" radius edge. Look closely and you will see that this extra step is even done to the recessed carriage bolt cavities-providing a safe and smooth wood surface. This attention to detail makes the entire structure safer for climbing. Recessed Hardware and Safety Caps- All pieces of hardware in our play systems are either recessed into the wood or safety capped with acorn nuts to contribute to a safer, more attractive finish.

Heavy-Duty Quality Hardware: What's the difference?
Combining the best wood with less than the best hardware would be an injustice. Take our heavy-duty 1/2" carriage bolts for example. To secure two or more beams together, our carriage bolt passes through all the beams and then is fastened at the end. This enables the owner to adjust the tightness as the wood naturally expands and contracts.

12" Diameter Hardware Some manufacturers use lag bolts which, by contrast, is like a big wood screw. When subjected to the swing's normal motion, a lag bolt moved back and forth slowly creating a larger hole in the beam which eventually prevents secure tightening. It is then that the beams can only be repaired by drilling them out and replacing with a carriage bolt!

No other manufacturer uses as much 1/2" commercial grade carriage bolt construction. Even if carriage bolt construction is found, watch for 3/8" bolts which provide only half the tensile strength and sheer load.
